Our Timeline

Year	Events
1891	CEO’s grand-grandfather, Kohei, started a shop and selling teas while he was running a hotel named Ohtaya in front of ex-Kanaya station.
1946	Became specialized in tea.
1950s	Exports of Japanese tea grew. Started exporting to North America, Turkey, Middle East, and Europe.
1970s	As economy grew drastically, demand of tea grew as well. Widened its tea business.
1973	Became a stock company, and changed its name to 株式会社銘茶問屋太田園.
2003	Koichi Ohta assumed the post of CEO.
2010	Accepted to Shizuoka prefecture’s management-innovation program for helping new tea dealers to open their shops.
